1. Install IXXAT drivers

In case HAAKE PolySoft OS is installed on the PC for the first time, a driver for the communication with the instrument needs to be installed.

Caution: Please do not plug in the IXXAT CAN to USB interface into the PC prior installing its driver software.

Please use the drivers included on this DVD as this version has been tested with HAAKE PolySoft OS. Please do not use newer drivers found on the manufacturer CD or on the internet without prior consultation with Thermo Scientific Service staff.

Please follow the instructions to install the IXXAT communication driver.

1. Download the Windows 10, 7 driver installation file vci-4_0_793_0.zip
2. Extract the zip file on your PC
3. Start the contained executable (.exe) file
4. Follow the instructions on the screen.
5. On page Select components only the item CAN-to-USB compact in the section Kernel mode drivers has to be selected.
   All other components are not required.
   For every single Kernel mode driver selected, you will be prompted to confirm it being installed by Windows.
6. When prompted, reboot the PC

To check whether the driver has been installed successfully:

1. Connect the USB-to-CAN converter to an USB port of the PC.
2. A popup window in the Windows system tray will show up, indicating the hardware is initialized.
3. Wait till this popup displays a message 'The hardware can now be used'
4. Open Windows Hardware manager by typing devmgmt.msc into the Windows command prompt (start Windows Start icon)
5. The device Manager list contains an entry IXXAT VCI V4 Interfaces
6. This item includes one entry VCI4 USB-to-CAN compact

2. Deinstall previously installed PolySoft version

In case HAAKE PolySoft OS is installed for the first time on this PC, this section can be skipped. In case a version is updated, please deinstall the older version first by:

1. Open the software control panel for example by typing appwiz.cpl into the Windows command prompt (press Windows Start icon)
2. Right click on the PolySoft item and
3. select deinstall from the context menu.
4. Follow the instructions on the screen.

3. Install HAAKE PolySoft OS

Please follow these instructions to install the HAAKE PolySoft OS on the PC:

1. Use the Windows Explorer to open the folder PolySoft on the DVD
2. Start the program setup.exe
3. Select the language of the installation procedure.
4. Depending on the already installes runtime versions in a first step required components are installed. After this the setup program terminates. Start the setip.exe program again.
5. After some initializations screens the registration dialog will pop up
6. Please make sure to populate its fields exactly in the way the information are shown on the sticker provided with the software. Even the company name contains a type, it needs to be entered exactly in this way. Other entries cannot be registered.
7. After the successful registering the license data, follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation procedure.
